We want to welcome you for an adventure into the world of Final Fantasy XIV Online! If you are new player, here are some spoiler-free basic tips. We hope these will be prove helpful on your adventure.
What is a Free Company a.k.a FC?
- It’s a funny name indeed. FCs are called guilds, clans or teams in other games. They are groups of people who enjoy the company of others.
- FCs are completely free and optional. However, joining a FC can be very beneficial, especially for new players.
- FC actions or buffs provide free XP increase, which makes you level up faster. A buff for cheaper teleportation can save you a lot of gil!
- Automatically join FC chat, where you can discuss with all of the members while in-game.
- FCs can have member events where they do fun content together.
- And best of all, you can ask for help and advice from veteran members.
How to join a Free Company?
- You can join a FC by applying to one by opening their Free Company plate when examining a player.
- You can also ask for an invite in the game chat from a particular player.
- Or you can apply to a FC by visiting their house and using the placard.
- Check out Lodestone for FCs that are recruiting.
- You can find FCs by asking in the game chat, or by looking at the Party Finder other section.
- You can also find FCs by visiting the official FFXIV forums or by asking in the subreddit.
Should I join a Free Company?
- Yes! It’s a great way to meet new people and make friends.
- You can always leave a FC if you don’t like it.
- At first I was very anxious of joining a FC, so I know how it feels. But the scene is very welcoming and people understand if you’re new. We all have been there!
- You can also disable the FC chat if you want to focus on the game.
- So we encourage you to give it a chance!
